Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead high‑voltage protection projects, mentor engineers, and support business growth across multiple U.S.

locations. The role requires a PE license, 15 years of experience, and strong expertise in protection, relaying, SCADA, and power system operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Willingness to travel up to 10% or less.

Responsibilities

Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, and communications.
Develop, review, and approve protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring, relay settings).
Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
Ensure compliance with client requirements, utility standards, and CDM Smith procedures.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for commissioning, testing, startup, and delivery.
