Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role combines advanced P&C engineering with responsibility for leading a team of engineers.

The successful candidate will act as a technical authority for protection systems, lead complex substations, mentor staff, and support business growth while ensuring quality and safety in project delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering required.
Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
15 years of related experience is preferred.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, and automation.
Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings).
Lead power system studies and protection coordination analyses.
Ensure compliance with client requirements and CDM Smith quality procedures.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for successful project delivery, commissioning, and startup.
