Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead high‑voltage substation protection projects, serve as the technical authority for relaying, SCADA integration, and automation, and mentor engineering staff to deliver reliable power infrastructure.

The role emphasizes project delivery, risk management, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, with travel as needed

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Professional engineering (PE) license required.
15 years related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
Serve as technical authority for protective relaying and control systems including SCADA integration and automation.
Develop and approve protection/control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts).
Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection and related analyses.
Mentor engineers and designers to support technical excellence and career growth.
Support business development activities, client relationship management, and proposals.
