Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience with 1 year directly related to buying and selling scrap.
• Knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials; some knowledge of transportation and scrap yard operations.
• Self-starter with strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel weekly to complete job duties and maintain vendor network.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and develop new scrap supplier sources in the local regional market.
• Procure retail scrap for steelmaking and manage cost-effective purchases.
• Maintain relationships with current suppliers and seek new sources within policies.
• Provide information to management to develop cost avoidance and savings opportunities.
• Coordinate with yard personnel, transportation, inspection, and accounting teams.
• Review scrap orders, shipments, and invoicing; resolve discrepancies with vendors.
