Job summary

Gerdau is seeking a Metals Recycling Buyer II in Sikeston, MO to procure retail scrap for steelmaking. The role reports to Regional Raw Materials Manager and liaises with yard, suppliers and transportation teams.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in scrap buying, strong negotiation and math skills, and the ability to work independently or in a cross-functional team. Regular travel is required.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of relevant procurement experience, 1 year buying scrap.
• Knowledge of raw materials sources and grades.
• Understanding of transportation issues and scrap yard ops.

Responsibilities

• Recruit new supply sources for scrap in local regional market.
• Procure scrap metals cost-effectively.
• Maintain relationships with current suppliers and seek new sources.
• Support ethical and productive relationships with suppliers.
• Stay abreast of market trends and regional practices.
• Provide information to management to help develop cost avoidance and savings opportunities.
