Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a seasoned Safety leader to plan, implement, and monitor a comprehensive Zero Injury Safety Program across the operating group. You will coordinate with trade partners and joint ventures, conduct hazard assessments, and lead safety training initiatives.

You will oversee incident investigations, ensure OSHA reporting accuracy, and mentor Safety staff while maintaining awareness of evolving OSHA and ANSI standards. This role requires strong leadership and field presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.
• Or high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500 and 14+ years of construction safety leadership.
• Eight years as dedicated safety professional on large/multi-project programs.
• Experience with large, complex projects and subcontractor teams.
• Preferred CSP certification and leadership capacity.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, and manage Zero Injury Safety Program elements across the operating group.
• Coordinate safety program collaboration with trade and joint-venture partners.
• Conduct site hazard assessments with project management during planning and construction.
• Develop safety training, including train‑the‑trainer sessions.
• Oversee documentation, tracking, and OSHA reporting for Safety metrics.
• Monitor onsite activities via audits, document deficiencies, and corrective actions.
• Lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis; coach safety managers.
• Provide mentorship and development opportunities for Safety staff.
• Maintain knowledge of OSHA/ANSI standards and procedures; support leadership.
• Assist safety director in achieving safety performance metrics.
