Job summary

WSP is seeking a Project Controls Team Leader to join the Earth & Environment TXLA Regional Team. This hybrid leadership role oversees the project controls function for a portfolio spanning Texas and Louisiana, guiding scheduling, forecasting, and financial performance while collaborating with project managers and regional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, environmental science or similar with a background in environmental, science, or engineering.
• 7+ years of post-education experience in financial controls, finance/accounting, scheduling, forecasting on capital projects with ability to guide teams.
• 3-5 years leading, mentoring, supervising, and developing multidisciplinary project controls professionals.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage conflicting priorities in a changing environment.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (pivot tables, dashboards, and financial analysis), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project; familiarity with Power BI, Adobe Acrobat, and Oracle-based PM/financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Project Controls Team, overseeing project financial performance, scheduling, invoicing, and cash collection across the Texas and Louisiana portfolio.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for the team.
• Establish and promote project controls best practices, processes, and performance standards across the region.
• Partner with project managers, technical leaders, and business leaders to improve project performance and operational efficiency.
• Monitor project financials, schedules, resource utilization, forecasting, and KPIs.
• Support strategic planning and business initiatives as a member of the Regional Leadership Team.
• Foster a high-performing culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and client-focused delivery.
• Ensure consistent implementation of project controls methodologies and compliance with policies.
• Develop and oversee program and project schedules; review contractor schedules and identify risks with solutions.
• Prepare and oversee cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, cash flows, and financial models.
