Merck & Co. is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to lead scientific exchange, research coordination, and clinical collaboration within the Gastrointestinal Immunology program.

The role requires PhD/PharmD/MD-level credentials and emphasizes engaging with national and regional scientific leaders to provide company-approved information and support investigator-driven studies. The position covers MI, IN and KY, with remote work options.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond degree.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Strong working knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and related guidelines.
• Ability to organize, prioritize and work effectively in a changing environment.
• Strong MS Office and virtual meeting platforms familiarity.
• Commitment to fostering inclusion and empowering others.

Responsabilités

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional Scientific Leaders (SLs) to share company-approved medical and scientific information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company for SLs.
• Directs SL inquiries on issues outside scope to appropriate resources per policy.
• Keeps knowledge updated on dynamic scientific and clinical AOI.
• Initiates discussions with SLs/investigators to align with research strategies and trials.
• Enhances understanding of investigator-sponsored research foundations and goals.
• Recommends study sites and identifies investigators for phase II–IV programs; conducts SIVs.
• Leads protocol discussions with Global Clinical Trial Operations and supports investigator questions.
• Engages in scientific congresses and medical meetings to exchange data.
• Gathers feedback to understand SLs' and patients' medical needs and priorities.
• Demonstrates inclusion, leadership, and empowerment across the team.
