Job summary

MSD is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to serve as a therapeutic and disease expert, engaging in scientific information exchange with Scientific Leaders and supporting GI immunology programs in MI, IN, KY. The position requires a PhD/MD-level credential with several years of experience, strong stakeholder skills, and a commitment to inclusivity and scientific excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum: PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD.
• 3+ years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond the terminal degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Commitment to scientific excellence and dialogue.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines and regulations.
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional Scientific Leaders to provide approved medical and scientific information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains responsible medical contacts within the company.
• Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Keeps current knowledge of dynamic scientific and clinical environments relevant to AOI.
• Initiates discussions with SLs and investigators to align with research strategies and trial concepts.
• Recommends study sites and investigators for phase II-IV programs and conducts Site Initiation Visits.
• Leads protocol discussions with Global Clinical Trial Operations and supports investigator participation.
• Engages in scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange for company data and competitors.
• Gathers feedback to inform scientific needs and priorities of SLs and patients.
• Demonstrates inclusive leadership and acts as a role model for inclusion in the workforce.
