Job summary

Merck is seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in GI/IBD to engage in bidirectional scientific exchange with SLs and to support approved, in-development and company-sponsored trials.

The role requires a PhD/MD/DO/etc., strong communication and stakeholder management, and up to 50% travel within the Southern-Midwest territory. You will uphold GCP, SOPs, and collaborate across Medical Affairs teams to advance scientific insights.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD/DO-level credential with GI/IBD expertise and clinical/scientific background.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for diverse audiences.
• Experience conducting doctoral-level scientific discussions with external stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of FDA, HIPAA and relevant industry regulations.
• Ability to work across functions and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Engages national and regional SLs to share company-approved scientific information.
• Facilitates peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains medical contact networks.
• Addresses external inquiries and guides inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Supports research concepts, investigator-sponsored studies, and protocol discussions.
