Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in GI/IBD to drive our Scientific Exchange and Research priorities.

This role requires a PhD/MD-level credential and travels up to 50% within the Southern-Midwest region from a remote US base. You will engage with national and regional SLs, provide balanced scientific information, support investigator-initiated trials, and collaborate with GMSA to ensure compliance with SOPs and GCP.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD with clinical credentialing.
• 3+ years of Immunology (IBD) experience beyond degree.
• Proven verbal and written communications.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong scientific education and dialogue focus.
• Excellent stakeholder management and networking skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and pharma regulations.
• Organizational skills to adapt to a changing environment.
• Proficient in MS Office and virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develops relationships with national/regional GI/IBD SLs to provide approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company.
• Addresses SL inquiries and directs out-of-scope questions to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI and regulatory guidelines (GCP).
• Initiates discussions with SLs/investigators to align with research strategies.
• Enhances understanding of investigator-sponsored research.
• Engages in scientific congresses and meetings for data exchange.
• Gathers feedback to inform medical needs and priorities.
• Leads by example to foster inclusion and teamwork.
