Job description

The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is the largest state agency responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced after violating North Carolina laws. It includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, Division of Community Corrections, and Reentry Programs and Services. We have a mission that matters!

Position: Maintenance/Construction Technician III (Region Maintenance Technician)

We are recruiting for an energetic and collaborative individual to join the Piedmont Regional Maintenance Team. This full-time position, based at the Piedmont Regional Maintenance Yard in Asheboro, NC, involves performing preventative maintenance and system replacements within the Force Account system.

Qualifications:
  • Journeyman level experience in construction, installation, maintenance, or repair of systems such as concrete, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and machinery.
  • Ability to work independently, interpret blueprints, and perform assigned duties.
  • Experience with reading schematics and blueprints.
  • High school diploma or GED plus two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain necessary certifications, such as EPA Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to commute daily to Asheboro, NC.
  • Work schedule is Monday – Friday, with potential for weekend work and overnight travel.
  • Preferred: NC Licensed Plumber and experience in installing underground and overhead plumbing systems.
Benefits:

Includes retirement, health insurance, vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and a competitive salary grade NC09. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
