The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, Division of Community Corrections, and Reentry Programs and Services.
The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (Region Maintenance Technician) for the Piedmont Regional Maintenance Team. The position is based at Piedmont Regional Maintenance Yard in Asheboro, NC / Randolph County, focusing on general preventative maintenance and Force Account system replacements.
The ideal candidate will have journeyman-level experience in construction, installation, maintenance, or repair of systems like concrete, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc. They should be able to work independently, read blueprints, and perform other duties as assigned.
This full-time role (40 hours/week) requires daily travel to Asheboro, NC. Work hours are Monday – Friday, with potential weekend work and overnight travel.

The salary grade is NC09. Current state employees are encouraged to apply, and salary will be adjusted based on experience, education, and internal policies.
High school diploma or GED plus two years of experience in the trade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician may be required.
