Join to apply for the Regional Maintenance Technician I role at NC Department of Adult Correction

The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is hiring an Entry Level Maintenance / Construction Position. No previous experience is required! This department is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws, including State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, Division of Community Corrections, and Reentry Programs and Services.

The Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) is seeking a Regional Maintenance Technician I to join the Coastal Regional Maintenance Team based in Greenville, NC. The role involves learning and performing general preventative maintenance, system replacements, and repairs across various trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and more.

This is a full-time, entry-level position (40 hours/week) with state benefits, working Monday through Friday, with possible weekend work and overnight travel. Successful candidates need a positive attitude and eagerness to learn, with the opportunity to gain skills in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of various systems.

Starting salary ranges from $29,604 to $51,807, effective January 1, 2025. Current applicants remain under consideration; reapplication is not necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical or building trades
  • Possession of or ability to obtain EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician (if applicable)
