Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. You will lead high-voltage substation protection projects, mentor staff, and drive client-focused solutions.

Preferred locations include multiple US offices; this role emphasizes delivering reliable power infrastructure, fostering team growth, and ensuring quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables such as schematics and relay settings.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, standards, and CDM Smith procedures.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for project delivery, commissioning, testing and startup.
