Job summary

Small Door Inc. is seeking an HR Business Partner to support a few regional clinics in the Northeast. You will partner with regional and practice leaders to manage employee relations, leaves, and coaching for managers, while ensuring compliance with state and local employment laws.

The role requires 3–5 years in HR, a calm and fair approach, and readiness to travel to clinics across NY, NJ, PA or MA. Prior HRBP or healthcare/retail experience is a plus, with opportunities for growth and

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years in HR as a generalist or HRBP, ideally in a multi-site business.
• Experience handling ER cases and leaves; knowledge of FMLA and ADA basics.
• Calm, fair with good judgment; ability to build relationships quickly.
• Lives in the Northeast near one of our clinics and able to travel to regions.
• PHR/SHRM-CP is a plus; healthcare/veterinary/retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with regional and practice leaders for a few small regions.
• Own employee relations, investigations, and documentation with support on complex cases.
• Manage leaves end to end, including FMLA and ADA accommodations.
• Coach managers to give feedback and conduct hard conversations.
• Monitor turnover and engagement, and report ER themes with recommendations.
• Support new hires and managers, ensuring strong onboarding in 90 days.
• Roll out people programs, policy changes, and onboarding in regions.
• Ensure practices follow state and local employment law; visit clinics regularly.
