Job summary

Carter Lumber seeks a General Manager to oversee multiple stores within a market, executing direction from Market leadership on foundation, inventory, sales and profit. The role requires strong communication with field, internal teams, and vendors to drive performance.

Responsibilities include managing store operations, staff leadership, sales growth, and ongoing training. Travel to job sites is expected to support field initiatives and ensure policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous retail management experience in building materials is preferred.
• Experience managing installed/outside sales programs.
• Proven track record in sales management with contractors.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations: direct and oversee inventory and sales management across multiple stores in a market.
• Staff Management: hire, motivate, discipline and develop employees; set goals and monitor performance.
• Sales & Relationship Building: grow outside and installed sales by acquiring new prospects and maintaining relationships.
• Knowledge & Training: identify growth needs, complete required training and encourage career development.
