Job summary

IDEA (Islamic Development & Empowerment in America) is seeking a Development Coordinator for its Fund Development division. This part-time role focuses on building donor relationships, masjid engagement, and regional fundraising activities across Long Island, NY.

The candidate will travel within the region, support events, and collaborate with volunteers and staff to advance IDEA’s mission. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, fundraising experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Experience with grassroots organizations or community engagement is required.
• Familiarity with the local Muslim community preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent oral communication and public speaking skills.
• Ability to interact with diverse backgrounds effectively.
• Strong written communication and record-keeping abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; manage priorities.
• Fundraising experience is a must.
• Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time; possible international travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain positive relationships with donors, masajid, businesses, and community members.
• Strengthen relationships with masajid and new communities.
• Conduct outreach visits and represent IDEA at events.
• Plan and support regional fundraising activities with staff and volunteers.
• Respond to donor inquiries with timely information about campaigns and opportunities.
• Deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
• Prepare plans, projections, and reports for management.
• Research local communities and opportunities for fundraising strategies.
• Pursue ongoing training and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
