Job summary

IDEA (Islamic Development & Empowerment in America) in Richmond, VA seeks a Development Coordinator to build donor and community relationships and advance Fund Development goals. The role reports to the Regional Manager and manages an assigned portfolio, supporting fundraising opportunities, events, and campaigns throughout the region.

The position is part-time and requires travel, collaboration with regional staff and volunteers, and a commitment to IDEA’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Experience with grassroots organizations or community engagement.
• Familiarity with local Muslim community and leaders.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent oral communication and public speaking.
• Ability to interact with diverse groups.
• Strong written communication and record keeping.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
• Fundraising experience is a must.
• Willingness to travel 60% regionally/nationally; some international travel possible.
• Desire to work for a humanitarian cause.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace; Salesforce/ClickUp preferred.
• Availability for evenings and weekends during events.
• Own transportation required.
• Eligibility to work in United States.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain donor, masjid, business, and community relationships.
• Support regional fundraising activities and events.
• Represent IDEA at community events and program engagements.
• Plan and coordinate outreach visits with staff and volunteers.
• Respond to inquiries with information on campaigns and opportunities.
• Deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
• Prepare plans, projections, and reports for management.
• Research local communities and opportunities to support fundraising strategy.
• Continue professional development through trainings and courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
