Job summary

Hachette Book Group is seeking a remote Field Sales Representative to sell our titles to independent bookstores in the southeastern US. You will maintain primary relationships, present frontlist titles, and manage promotions while coordinating with internal teams. The role requires travel and a deep knowledge of our catalog.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of proven sales experience in publishing or bookselling.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently.
• Ability to travel by car and air and valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Edelweiss.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with bookstores and new accounts within territory.
• Present, sell, and place orders for frontlist titles during in-person and phone appointments.
• Keep accounts informed about list changes, offers, publicity, coop advertising and promotions.
• Regular sales reporting and feedback on titles, promotions and sales.
• Achieve individual and company budget goals.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Publicity, and Customer Financial Services while following policy.
• Coordinate with field and telephone sales colleagues on projects.
• Develop deep knowledge of Hachette catalog and current publishing trends.
• Conduct backlist reviews to maximize sales growth.
• Create account-specific promotional and marketing plans.
• Attend meetings, regional trade shows, and author events as needed.
