Job summary

AWS is seeking a Regional Environmental Engineer to lead permitting and compliance for data centers and infrastructure across the United States. You will partner with Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Design, Public Policy and operations teams to shape regional strategies and manage environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance programs.

The role requires delivering multiple high-priority projects with tight timelines, coordinating with regulators, consultants and internal partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of project management in data centers or related infrastructure.
• Experience with environmental permitting, including CWA 404 and NPDES.
• Knowledge of data center equipment and environmental controls.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations for data center siting and development.
• Lead environmental due diligence, including Phase I/II ESAs and permitting evaluations.
• Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans for new/expansion sites.
• Communicate environmental requirements and activities to partners.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk and operations teams to optimize site designs.
• Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible.
• Lead regulatory agency interactions to support permit acquisition.
• Develop, manage and track metrics to evaluate project success.
