Rotoflow, an Air Products Business, is a full-service turbomachinery OEM providing a wide range of new equipment solutions and aftermarket services to customers globally in market segments such as industrial gases, petrochemicals, and hydrocarbons. Aftermarket services include spare parts, repairs, upgrades, field services, engineering evaluations, reliability and performance assessments, troubleshooting, training, remote diagnostics/data monitoring, and shop services from regional service centers for both Air Products/Rotoflow and non affiliated equipment.

In this role you will lead the global aftermarket engineering and design team from our Rotoflow aftermarket service shop in Houston, TX. This team consists of Machinery Engineers and Aftermarket designers with the majority of members located in Houston with others in the Dharan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Shanghai, China. This is a "working manager" position where your time will be split between individual contributor work including mechanical design tasks, project support, and product development and people management of the team.

Key Manager Responsibilities
  • Spend ~50% leading and managing a global team of ~10 engineers responsible for driving mechanical design tasks to completion.
  • Provide day to day workload and resource planning for the distributed team.
  • Provide technical mentorship and leadership to the team including providing feedback, conducting performance evaluations, establishing training plans, and setting goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Global Functional Owners to establish standards, work processes, and systems to streamline and improve engineering tasks.
  • Empower, lead, encourage, and inspire your team.
  • Build and coordinate metrics for evaluating performance and execution of engineering activities.
  • Facilitate and support longer term team skills development and Career Path planning for all individuals on the team.
  • Challenge the status quo with alternate solutions rooted in engineering fundamentals.
  • Promote safety and diversity consistent with the philosophies of Rotoflow.
Key Individual Contributor Responsibilities:
  • Collaboration with customers to ensure accurate design and integration of equipment into the process.
  • Perform safety and operability reviews.
  • Work with service team to complete technical scope, including detailed design engineering of systems.
  • Develop, update, and/or implement procedures and processes for servicing a variety of turbomachinery products including other OEM equipment.
  • Participating in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and developing technical reports and summaries for customers.
  • Checking and approving manufacturing drawings.
  • Support of bid estimate development.
  • Building standardized product work while collaborating with Product Owners.
  • Support (RCA) of equipment and field commissioning and start up activities completed by the Aftermarket Team.
  • Collaborate with the Business Improvement Team to develop new and standardized design engineering tools and work processes for streamlining projects and product development.
  • Drive engineering and material cost reductions and improve competitiveness across project and product offerings working closely with collaborators.
Required Skills / Abilities:
  • Technical Degree or equivalent experience: BS or MS Mechanical Engineering, or related degree, with a focus on turbomachinery design, rotordynamics, fluid film bearings, design for manufacturability, and/or manufacturing processes a plus.
  • 10+ years turbomachinery or rotating machinery design.
  • 5+ years people management of mechanical engineers/technical specialists.
  • Experience leading remote team members a plus.
  • Proven continuous improvement and agent of change approach.
  • Thorough understanding of how equipment is assembled, operated, and maintained.
  • Understanding of general machinery commissioning, fixing, and servicing procedures.
  • Understanding of control systems and instrumentation for the successful commissioning and troubleshooting turbomachinery.
  • Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, API, and other codes.2D CAD and 3D modeling and simulation a plus.
  • Advanced FEA and rotordynamic analysis capabilities a plus.
  • Fluid film bearing, gas bearing, magnetic bearing, hydrostatic bearing and rolling element bearing applications and design experience a plus.
  • Programming skills: VB, C#, C+, Python, Matlab, Fortran or similar languages a plus.
  • Diligent, goal oriented, organized, creative, self-motivated, collaborative and customer focused.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Excellent analytical, creativity, problem solving, time management, and decision-making skills.
  • Exemplify a passion for winning and ability to empower teams.
