Job summary

The College of Southern Maryland on the La Plata Campus seeks an Employer Outreach and Internships Specialist to develop regional employer relationships and create paid internship and work-based learning opportunities for students.

The role requires strong communication, networking, and project management skills, with remote eligibility up to two days per week. You will collaborate across departments to align opportunities with student learning outcomes and workforce needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, hospitality, or related field or 4 years of successful sales and customer management experience.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Strong people engagement and networking abilities; excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proven ability to negotiate and manage contracts or agreements.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage regional employers to develop internship programs aligned with academic programs and workforce credential offerings.
• Negotiate and formalize internship agreements, ensuring compliance with college policies and labor regulations.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to match students with opportunities.
• Represent the college at networking events, industry meetings, and community forums.
• Provide guidance to employers on hosting interns and meaningful experiences.
• Develop and nurture relationships with key industry partners and stakeholders.
