Job summary

Komatsu, a global leader in mining equipment, is seeking a Regional EHS Manager to advance safety and environmental standards across the western United States, based in Elko, Nevada. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, risk management, and cultivating a proactive safety culture.

You will design and implement EHS programs for multiple sites, drive audits, training, and contractor safety, and partner with HR on wellness and return-to-work initiatives. The position requires travel up to 40%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Risk Management, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience in EHS roles.
• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in EHS management within mining, heavy equipment manufacturing, construction, or similarly complex industrial environments.
• At least three years of leadership experience overseeing EHS programs across multiple sites or business units.
• Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations and proven success in implementing mining industry safety standards.
• In-depth understanding of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and relevant state regulations, with a strong track record of ensuring organizational compliance.
• Proficiency in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive measures.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to travel up to 40% regionally to support site leadership and program implementation.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and enhancement of EHS programs across multiple sites.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
• Embed EHS into operational planning with regional leadership.
• Oversee risk management through inspections, hazard identifications, audits, and corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver training for supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
• Manage contractor safety compliance and return-to-work programs.
• Oversee environmental compliance including hazardous materials and waste management.
• Provide expertise on occupational health, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
• Lead emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.
• Coordinate EHS audits, including ISO certifications, and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop EHS metrics for leadership reporting and decision-making.
• Partner with mine site stakeholders to align EHS with operations.
