Job summary

Summit School Services seeks a Regional Training Manager to implement and oversee the school bus training program across regional teams. You will lead Driver Instructors, schedule sessions, and drive performance improvements to ensure safety and compliance.

You will provide coaching, monitor progress, and stay current on regulations. The role emphasizes strong leadership, collaboration with Operations, and ongoing development of training methods and materials.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
• 3 years as a Trainer in school bus transportation industry desired
• Supervisory experience preferred; supervising a driver workforce
• Thorough knowledge of company regulations; state and federal laws relating to student transportation
• Must complete state certification program or Durham's Train the Trainer Program; equivalent experience accepted
• Current DOT medical certification; First Aid cert if state requires; and school bus license for applicable state
• CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements required
• Strong communication and math skills; articulate interfacing with diverse people
• Knowledge of adult training techniques and MS Office software

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the implementation of the company's current school bus training program
• Supervise and lead a team of Driver Instructors on established objectives, create schedules and drive accountability
• Provide ongoing support, development, and coaching to driver instructors on performance and objectives
• Oversee hiring of Driver Instructors and supervise the team to adhere to policies
• Review and investigate violations; determine disciplinary actions including termination
• Maintain accurate records of disciplinary actions and driver training progress
• Create an engaging training environment and conduct monthly safety meetings
• Ensure training sessions are conducted effectively and drivers learn safe driving techniques
• Monitor driver performance and provide constructive feedback through assessments
• Maintain records of training sessions, driver progress, and certifications
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating classroom and behind-the-wheel training
• Conduct training sessions for new and existing drivers on safety and company policies
• Ensure compliance with company standards and local/state/federal transportation regulations
• Provide retraining for incidents or accidents involving company vehicles
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in driver training
• Build strong relationships with Operations and Safety staff
• Other duties as assigned
