Job summary

The American Red Cross in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Disaster Action Team Manager to lead and grow disaster volunteer teams, cultivate community and government relationships, and ensure readiness for disasters across four counties. Regional travel is required, with deployments contributing to skill development and career growth.

This role reports to the Regional Headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles, supports 50% regional travel, and works 3-4 days per week in office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience building, mobilizing, leading, and developing volunteer teams.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support disaster volunteer teams responsible for local preparedness, response, and client care management.
• Coordinate disaster cycle services programming and regional plans with program management.
• Develop and support Disaster Leadership Volunteers and volunteer partners.
• Engage communities and partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
• Build relationships in a matrix management environment with internal partners and volunteers.
• Serve as subject matter expert to maximize Red Cross presence and community engagement in assigned area.
• Initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations in alignment with operational concepts.
