Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking an executive to oversee data center operations across regional facilities. You will direct managers and 100–150 hourly staff, ensuring safety, availability and performance, while aligning with AWS cloud integration goals.

The role requires 7+ years in operations leadership, deep IT infrastructure knowledge, Lean/Six Sigma experience, and strong cross‑site collaboration. Travel to multiple sites is expected; base salary range is listed for Indiana sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components.
• 7+ years management experience in an operations, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
• 3+ years' experience implementing LEAN/6 Sigma methodology (continuous improvement, DMAIC/DVADV, 5 Whys, Root Cause analysis, etc.)
• 3+ Years of experience in working with network cabling, optic types, and test equipment, and experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies within a data center-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 areas and front‑line managers) and 100-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers.
• Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
• Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.
• Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.
• Obsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills perspective including mentoring and training.
• Develop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe.
• Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians.
• Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center buildouts, new colocation buildouts, expansions, and the network/server rack infrastructure.
• Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific tasks balancing internal skillsets with frugality.
• Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.
