Merck & Co. seeks a Growth and Improvement minded Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Respiratory - COPD to drive strategic priorities.

This credentialed director-level role engages in scientific exchange, research discussions, and investigator relationships to support approved and in-development programs. The role covers NE region and requires 3+ years in COPD/Respiratory, strong ethics knowledge, and travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Proven competence and a minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond that obtained in the terminal degree program, e.g., COPD/Respiratory.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Principled verbal and written communications.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Dedication to scientific excellence with a strong focus on scientific education and dialogue.
• Thorough comprehension of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and its customers.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneNote).
• Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs for access to approved medical information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a reliable company presence with SLs.
• Addresses scientific questions and guides SL inquiries to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of dynamic scientific environment in AOI for the therapeutic area.
• Initiates discussions with SLs or investigators to align research strategies and study concepts.
• Enhances understanding of investigator-sponsored research, and identifies enrollment barriers.
• Recommends study sites and investigators for phase II-IV programs; conducts SIVs.
• Discusses participation in company-sponsored clinical studies with investigators.
• Engages in scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange.
