Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (MSL) in Respiratory-COPD to drive scientific exchange and support investigator-initiated research. This field-based role requires deep therapeutic knowledge, collaboration with national and regional SLs, and strict adherence to GMSA SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

The candidate should have a PhD/MD/DO/PharmD and at least 3 years in COPD/Respiratory, with travel up to 50% and residence within the NE US region (MA, CT, VT, RI, NH, ME).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic experience beyond the terminal degree in COPD/Respiratory.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and networking skills.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong adherence to FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other industry guidelines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs to facilitate access to approved scientific information.
• Engages in peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains regular medical contact with SLs.
• Addresses questions outside scope (e.g., grants) by directing to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI and evolving scientific/clinical landscape.
• Supports site initiation visits and investigator interactions in collaboration with GCTO and GCSA.
• Contributes to scientific congresses and disseminates company data responsibly.
