Job summary

Waste Connections is seeking an accounting professional to manage monthly close, reconcile general ledger accounts, and provide variance analyses. You will support the annual budget process and assist with SOX compliance, while collaborating with field offices and non-financial colleagues on internal controls.

The role emphasizes accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and effective communication of financial information to business partners across locations.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in Accounting.
• 2 years of public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel and related accounting systems.
• Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly financial close and prepare financial statements for each operating location.
• Reconcile all general ledger accounts.
• Provide monthly narrative analysis of variances to budget and forecast.
• Complete monthly three-month financial forecast.
• Conduct rate analysis and review.
• Communicate accounting information to business counterparts.
• Manage flow of accounting data to/from decentralized field offices.
• Assist with quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and review.
• Plan and participate in annual budget process.
• Provide training on internal control compliance and accounting procedures.
