Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Division Controller to lead budgeting, accounting operations, and financial reporting for select locations within the organization.

You will oversee daily accounting functions, ensure SOX compliance, and drive process improvements while coordinating close cycles and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a bachelor’s in accounting/finance with 5–7 years of experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 5–7 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and be legally eligible to work in the US.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Dynamics or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cash collection activities with cash applications and collections personnel.
• Implement internal controls and audits to preserve assets and maintain SOX compliance at the operating level.
• Conduct ad hoc analyses of division finances and prepare reports for decision making.
• Prepare financial statements and filings to ensure compliance with company and regulatory rules.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes for assigned cost center.
• Plan and guide projects, distributing work among team members.
• Assess current accounting operations and recommend improvements and new processes.
• Coordinate with account executives to streamline budget processing.
• Consolidate financial data necessary for accurate company-wide results.
• Provide leadership and coaching to the accounting team and ensure training opportunities.
• Participate in training to expand knowledge of the company and services.
