Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Division Controller to oversee daily accounting for select locations, drive monthly closes, and ensure SOX compliance.

You will coordinate financial data, support budget processes, and lead a team to deliver accurate reporting. The role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance with 5–7 years of related experience, strong teamwork, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Dynamics CRM or similar systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 5–7 years of related experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and cross-functional environment.
• Legal to work in the US.
• Advanced degree and environmental sustainability interest preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cash collection activities with cash applications and collections personnel.
• Support internal controls and audits to preserve assets and ensure SOX compliance at the operating level.
• Perform ad hoc analyses of division finances and prepare reports for decision making.
• Prepare financial statements and filings to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for assigned cost center.
• Plan and guide projects, distributing work among employees.
• Assess accounting operations and recommend process improvements.
• Coordinate with account executives to streamline budget processing.
• Consolidate financial data for consolidated results.
• Provide leadership, set goals, and coach the team for development.
• Participate in training to expand knowledge of company, products, services.
