Job summary

Waste Resource Management seeks an Assistant Controller to support financial operations across its Texas-based and affiliated entities. You will assist the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, maintain the general ledger, and ensure GAAP compliance while collaborating across departments.

The role requires strong analytics, attention to detail, and leadership experience to guide accounting teams and coordinate audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (MBA preferred).
• CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• 3+ years of managerial experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support the Controller in maintaining the general ledger and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
• Coordinate and assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Prepare account and bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes; provide financial analysis as needed.
• Collaborate with external auditors and assist in the annual audit process.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial risk.
• Other duties as assigned
