This is a newly created position following the separation of the Wrench division into North and South regions. The successful candidate will assume financial responsibility for 8 branches and partner closely with the General Managers and operational leadership across the region.
The Regional Controller will report to the Divisional Controller and work closely with the CFO and Division VP. This is an operationally focused finance leadership role rather than a turnaround position. The region is performing strongly, and the opportunity is centered on building scalable financial processes, improving reporting and profitability, supporting acquisitions, and standardizing finance across the business.
The role will have approximately 10% to 20% travel across the region and is based onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
- Own the financial performance and reporting for 8 branches across the North Wrench Region.
- Lead the full month end close process and work toward consistently closing the books within 8 days.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, P&Ls, and management reporting.
- Partner closely with 8 General Managers to understand financial performance and improve business results.
- Analyze branch performance, job costing, labor productivity, pricing, spending, margins, and other key operational metrics.
- Provide financial insight and recommendations that help operational leaders improve profitability.
- Establish consistent financial processes, controls, and reporting standards across all locations.
- Standardize the Chart of Accounts and support the transition toward Sage Intacct.
- Work with teams currently operating on QuickBooks and ServiceTitan as systems are standardized across the organization.
- Support ServiceTitan and other systems implementations and integrations.
- Support the onboarding and financial integration of newly acquired businesses.
- Help prepare the finance organization for future acquisitions and continued regional growth.
- Benchmark financial and operational performance across branches and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor spending and financial performance against expectations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 to 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- At least 3 years of Controller level experience.
- Previous experience as a Regional Controller, Controller, or in a comparable multi site finance leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing a multi location P&L, ideally $40 million or more.
- Strong understanding of full cycle month end close processes.
- Experience with GAAP accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience with multi site accounting and consolidations.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze P&Ls and translate financial results into operational recommendations.
- Experience implementing or standardizing a Chart of Accounts.
- Experience partnering directly with General Managers or operational leaders.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, PE backed environment.
- Willingness to work onsite in Knoxville, Tennessee and travel approximately 10% to 20%.

- Experience in residential home services, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators, landscaping, or similar field based service businesses.
- HVAC industry experience.

- Experience supporting acquisitions and post acquisition integrations.
- Experience with 3 to 5 or more acquisitions.
- Experience with systems migrations and financial process standardization.
- Experience working with a common Chart of Accounts across multiple locations.
- CPA designation or active CPA certification.
- Experience supporting rapid growth through both organic expansion and M&A.
