Fahrenheit Advisors is seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead accounting, financial reporting, systems, controls, and financial infrastructure for a growing PE-backed home services platform made up of multiple founder-led operating companies.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Controller will serve as the senior accounting and financial leader for the organization and a key partner to the CEO, executive leadership team, private equity sponsor, and subsidiary leaders. This role is highly service-oriented. The Controller will treat subsidiaries as internal customers, building trusted relationships with founders, general managers, and local teams while providing responsive, practical, solutions-focused financial support.
The Controller will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting across the platform while building scalable accounting processes, systems, controls, and reporting tools to support organic growth and acquisition activity. The ideal candidate can introduce discipline and standardization without creating unnecessary administrative burden for operating companies.
Experience with multi-entity organizations, PE-backed businesses, ERP/software implementations, change management, inventory control, and home services companies is highly valued. ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct experience is strongly preferred. This position will work 2-3 days in a Clearwater, FL office and should be local to the Clearwater/Tampa area.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary accounting and financial reporting partner to the CEO, executive team, Board, lenders, and PE sponsor.
- Provide timely, accurate, actionable insight into financial performance, cash flow, working capital, profitability, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of the financial and operational drivers of each operating company and support decision-making across the platform.
- Build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued organic and acquisition-driven growth.
Subsidiary Partnership & Internal Customer Service
- Establish corporate finance as a trusted service partner to founders, general managers, and local operating teams.
- Provide clear, useful financial information that helps subsidiary leaders understand performance and make better operating decisions.
- Communicate accounting requirements clearly, implement them thoughtfully, and minimize disruption to the operating businesses.
- Create processes that make it easier for subsidiaries to provide required information accurately and on time.
- Balance standardization, controls, and accountability with flexibility and respect for entrepreneurial, founder-led cultures.
- Act as a resource and problem-solving partner, helping acquired businesses transition into the platform’s reporting and control environment collaboratively.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple legal entities and operating companies.
- Ensure accurate consolidated financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, supporting schedules, intercompany eliminations, and reporting packages.
- Manage close calendar, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany activity, general ledger integrity, chart of accounts, and accounting policies.
- Develop reporting packages for CEO, executive team, Board, lenders, and PE sponsor.
Financial Analysis & Business Performance
- Partner with the CEO and operating leaders to improve visibility into revenue, gross margin, labor efficiency, operating expenses, EBITDA, cash flow, and other key metrics.
- Analyze actual results against budget, forecast, and prior-year performance; explain variances and connect financial results to operational drivers.
Home Services Operations & Systems
- Understand home services workflows tied to service, maintenance, installation, dispatch, inventory, technician payroll/commissions, purchasing, job costing, and field operations.
- Improve the flow of financial information between operational systems and the general ledger.
- Support optimization and integration of ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct, including data accuracy, controls, reconciliations, reporting, process automation, and discrepancy resolution.
- Reduce manual processes and administrative burden through better technology use and system integrations.
ERP, Technology & Software Implementation
- Lead or support ERP, accounting, and financial technology selection, implementation, integration, optimization, conversions, and rollouts.
- Serve as a business owner for Sage Intacct, ServiceTitan, and related finance/operational systems.
- Partner with subsidiaries, operations, IT, vendors, and consultants to define requirements, support adoption, migrate/validate data, map charts of accounts, test systems, stabilize after go-live, and ensure appropriate controls, access, approvals, and segregation of duties.
- Develop standardized processes for integrating newly acquired subsidiaries into the platform’s systems environment.
Change Management & Organizational Adoption
- Lead change as the organization grows, acquires businesses, and standardizes systems and processes.
- Build trust and buy-in with founders, general managers, and subsidiary teams before and during process and system changes.
- Develop implementation plans, training, documentation, and support that drive adoption while minimizing disruption.
- Anticipate resistance, address concerns, monitor adoption, and continuously improve the service model.
Inventory Management & Controls
- Establish inventory accounting policies, procedures, reporting, and controls across parts, equipment, warehouse inventory, truck stock, and field inventory.
- Ensure inventory in operational systems is accurately reflected and reconciled to the general ledger.
- Standardize receipts, transfers, usage, returns, adjustments, write-offs, obsolete inventory, physical counts, and cycle counting processes.
- Monitor shrinkage, slow-moving inventory, adjustments, turns, utilization, purchasing trends, and working capital impact.
- Partner with operations and procurement to improve visibility, accountability, segregation of duties, approval controls, and inventory accuracy without overburdening field teams.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Develop accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, documentation, authorization, and approval processes appropriate for a growing PE-backed organization.
- Identify financial and operational control gaps and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Improve AP, AR, cash management, payroll accounting, purchasing, inventory, fixed assets, and monthly close processes.
- Engage subsidiary leaders in process design so solutions are practical, operationally effective, and scalable for future acquisitions.
M&A & Integration
- Support the CEO and PE sponsor with acquisition-related accounting and finance activities.
- Lead accounting integration for newly acquired businesses, including opening balance sheets, accounting policy alignment, chart of accounts mapping, system migration, and reporting transition.
- Create a supportive onboarding experience for acquired businesses while helping founders and local finance teams understand new reporting requirements, systems, and processes.
- Develop repeatable playbooks for finance, systems, and accounting integration; support diligence and QOE activities as needed.
Cash Management & Working Capital
- Provide visibility into cash position, short-term liquidity, cash forecasting, and working capital needs.
- Oversee cash management and monitor AR, AP, inventory, and other working capital drivers.
- Identify opportunities to improve cash conversion and support debt covenant and lender reporting compliance.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Lead the annual audit or review process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Support tax compliance, debt agreement compliance, lender reporting, and documentation of significant accounting judgments.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the accounting team while establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Build a finance culture centered on responsiveness, accountability, collaboration, service, and practical problem solving.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of a corporate accounting or controllership function.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidated reporting, complex monthly closes, U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting process design.
- Experience in PE-backed, acquisitive, rapidly growing, decentralized, or founder-led businesses strongly preferred.
- Experience working with CEOs, executive teams, Boards, and/or PE sponsors preferred.
- ERP implementation, financial systems conversion, software integration, change management, and technology adoption experience strongly preferred.
- Inventory accounting/control experience strongly preferred; home services, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or field service experience preferred.
- ServiceTitan and Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred; strong Excel and financial systems aptitude required.
- Service-oriented, responsive, and practical; views subsidiaries as internal customers.
- Relationship-driven and able to build trust with founders, general managers, local teams, and executives.
- Technology-minded and experienced with ERP conversions, system integrations, data migrations, automation, and process redesign.
