Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Regional Collections Associate to manage a regional portfolio’s collection activities and communications with customers.

The role focuses on reducing DRO, lowering delinquency, and minimizing bad debt with close collaboration across Finance, Operations, Sales, and Rental leadership. The position requires strong negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills, with attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, accounting, financial or related field
• One year or more in commercial collections required
• Two years or more in accounting/financial with HS Diploma required
• 0 to one year in accounting/financial with Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree required
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial collections process intermediate required
• MS Office Suite intermediate required

Responsibilities

• Contacts customers to solicit payment, negotiate cessation of services, obtain information on deductions and billing issues, and determines contract defaults.
• Analyzes disputes and deductions to facilitate resolution of amounts due to Ryder (rates, days, miles, damages, etc.).
• Provide regular updates on receivables to Finance, Operations, Sales, and Rental leadership via calls and direct contact.
• Participates in projects, committees or focus groups related to Collections, AR, Customer Service, and Billing.
• Develop documentation and user manuals as directed.
• Work with customers and management to mitigate losses and improve receivables metrics (DRO, bad debt).
• Analyze financial/credit/operational data to plan and execute collections strategies.
• Performs other duties as assigned
