Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Regional Collections Associate to manage a regional portfolio, maximize financial results by lowering Days Revenue Outstanding, and minimize bad debt. You will coordinate with Operations, Rental, and Sales to address disputes and payment issues.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Eligible for full-time benefits and a performance-based compensation structure.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred in business, accounting, financial or related field.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in business, accounting, financial or related field.
• One year or more in commercial collections required.
• Two years or more in accounting/financial with the HS Diploma required.
• 0 to one year in accounting/financial with the Associate's/Bachelor's degree required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial collections process intermediate required.
• MS Office Suite intermediate required.

Responsibilities

• Contacts customers to solicit payment, negotiate cessation of services, obtain information on deductions and billing issues, renegotiate terms, and determine contract defaults.
• Analyze disputes and deductions to resolve amounts due due to wrong rates, days, miles, subs, damages, fees, taxes, etc., identify root causes, and close loops with upstream partners.
• Provide regular updates on receivables to Finance, Operations, Sales, and Rental leadership; manage negative impact of bad receivables.
• Participates in projects, committees or focus groups related to enhancements in Collections, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, and Billing.
• Develop documentation and user manuals as directed.
• Work with customers and all levels of management to mitigate losses, improve receivables metrics, and save customer relationships.
• Analyze all available financial/credit/operational data to plan and execute collections strategies.
• Performs other duties as assigned
