Job summary

Covenant Health System is seeking a coding analyst in West Texas to provide coding guidance and answer questions on ICD and CPT codes in line with AHA/UHDDS guidelines. The role involves abstracting clinical data and assisting in regular analyses of patient records.

The position requires CPT/ICD-9-CM knowledge and the ability to pass coding assessments, with AHIMA credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Pass department coding assessment test prior to date of hire (75% or above).
• 4 years CPT or ICD-9-CM acute care hospital coding experience.
• AHIMA certified coding program preferred.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• Experience in other clinical or healthcare disciplines is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide coding insight and answer coding-related questions on ICD and CPT codes per AHA/UHDDS guidelines.
• Abstract clinical data and assist in regular analyses of patient records.
