Qualifications

• Three years of extensive diagnosis and procedural coding experience is required.
• Professional coding experience is preferred.
• CPC or RHIT certification is required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Reviews documentation to determine ICD-10 CM and CPT-4 coding for billing.
• Verifies data in the medical record and abstracts information for charge entry.
• Uses CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding standards to select principal procedures.
• Edits unbilled claim transmissions to ensure timely billing.
• Participates in coding quality audits and provides provider support.
• Contacts physicians for clarification and reviews encounters for accuracy.
• Liaises with office manager and CDI supervisor on questions.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
