Job summary

Core States Group is seeking a Senior Director of Civil Engineering - Regional Practice Leader to grow and lead regional civil engineering practices across the Pacific Northwest. This leader will build teams, expand client relationships, and drive sustainable growth while delivering high-quality projects with accountability and expert leadership.

The role requires a strategic, business-minded leader capable of running the practice as a business, not just engineering production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering license strongly preferred.
• MBA or advanced business degree strongly preferred.
• Significant civil engineering leadership experience in client relationships and program delivery.
• Experience leading national client programs and scaling delivery teams.
• Strong business and financial acumen for staffing and resource planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow regional civil engineering practices with accountability for client service, team performance, and financials.
• Develop and execute regional practice strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Strengthen local brand recognition and regional market presence in priority markets.
• Identify growth opportunities and position Core States for long-term regional success.
• Build, mentor, and develop high-performing regional teams with leadership depth.
• Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the practice.
• Strengthen client relationships by understanding needs and acting as trusted advisor.
• Support strategic pursuits with market leaders and technical teams.
• Communicate Core States value proposition clearly including integrated delivery and cost certainty.
• Promote strong delivery practices around scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication.
• Use performance data and client feedback to drive improvement.
