Job summary

The Local Truck Driver role at DSV – Global Transport and Logistics is based in Itasca, IL, and focuses on regional ORD-DTW deliveries with professionalism and precision. You will be responsible for safe, compliant operation of semi-tractors and timely coordination with dispatch for efficient routes.

Ideal candidates bring a CDL A, 2+ years of recent experience, and a proven track record in load securement and customer service. TWIC is a plus.

Qualifications

• CDL A License required.
• 2+ years CDL A driving experience within last 4 years; 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
• Exceptional customer service skills and ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.

Responsibilities

• Drives semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more.
• P&D locally.
• Backs trailers to customer dock.
• Maintains compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe driving behavior.
• Communicates with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
• Coordinating with dispatchers.
• Complies with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
• Securing cargo and balancing it within the vehicle.
• Ensure mechanical issues are corrected before driving.
• Applies tire chains in inclement weather when required.
• Swings and secures trailer doors.
• Performs other duties as required.
