Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Regional Automation Engineer Manager to lead onsite and regional automation engineers across fulfillment centers, driving equipment reliability and operational excellence. You will oversee PLC/PC controllers, SCADA, and MHE systems, mentor junior engineers, and push continuous improvement projects while traveling up to 80% to support multiple sites in the region.

This role is based in Nashville and involves working with conveyors, sortation, scanners, and print-and-apply

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or Automation Engineering or 7+ years in PLC programming/automation.
• 7+ years of industrial controls and automation experience.
• 7+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience.
• 7+ years of Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Codesys Ladder Logic and structure programming experience.
• Strong electrical theory and automated equipment knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Apply SME on troubleshooting and support a region of automation engineers to reduce downtime.
• Program and source code for in-house PLC/PC controllers and SCADA/OEE platforms.
• Lead engineers in understanding, maintaining and troubleshooting material handling control systems.
• Monitor MHE metrics and analyze performance with maintenance and operations.
• Provide regional escalation support during and after business hours.
• Perform and analyze building system assessments to enhance material handling system performance.
• Establish training plans and mentor a team of automation engineers.
• Communicate technical issues and project timelines clearly to building managers and maintenance teams.
• Escalate to vendors or senior leadership for support to restore equipment operation.
• Provide 24/7 on-call rotational support for hardware and software systems across multiple sites.
