Job summary

Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IM Houston) seeks a Program of Initial Resettlement Case Worker in Houston, TX. This role provides pre- and post-arrival case management for refugees, coordinating essential services, and developing individualized plans to support self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities include intake assessments, housing, medical care, benefits applications, and referrals. Travel within the service area and collaboration with partner organizations are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
• Minimum two years in human or customer services.
• Experience with refugee/immigrant populations.
• Proficiency in Afrikaans and English.
• Ability to navigate refugee databases and related software.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre- and post-arrival services including housing, food, medical care, transportation, and orientation.
• Conduct client intake and develop self-sufficiency plans with clients.
• Provide services like financial assistance, public benefits referrals, and housing support.
• Assess progress toward goals and coordinate resources as needed.
• Maintain detailed documentation of client interactions per program requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partners; travel within service area as needed.
