Job summary

Bluegrass Community & Technical College seeks an Outreach/Intake Specialist for its Refugee Career Laddering Program. This grant-funded role screens participants, develops preliminary career plans, and connects them with ESL, computer literacy, and career exploration resources to support enrollment.

You will coordinate with case managers and faculty, ensure compliant intake, and help transition participants to ongoing coaching and support services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Higher Education, Social Work, or related fields.
• 2 years related experience working with populations with economic and resource challenges.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Conduits targeted outreach, recruitment, and engagement activities for eligible refugees in collaboration with community partners and campus departments.
• Screens participants for program eligibility, conducts initial assessments and testing, and completes the intake process per ORR guidelines and documentation standards.
• Develops preliminary Individual Career Plans (ICPs) to support enrollment in appropriate academic, technical, or workforce programs.
• Provides referrals to social service agencies and supplemental education or training opportunities, including ESL, computer literacy, and career exploration courses.
• Establishes and maintains open communication between participants, the BCTC Refugee Career Laddering Navigator, and Kentucky Refugee Ministries case managers.
• Coordinates the smooth handoff of enrolled participants to the Career Laddering Navigator for ongoing career coaching and case management.
• Maintains accurate enrollment and intake records, ensuring compliance with grant reporting requirements.
• Supports programmatic outreach efforts on campus and with external grant partners serving refugees.
• Attend Global Learning meetings and events and provide updates on the program’s status, challenges, and accomplishments.
• Work in collaboration with the Career Laddering Navigator, the Manager for the Career Laddering program, to support program outcomes and goals.
• Stay updated on grant policies and BCTC regulations to ensure program compliance.
