Overview
Thermo King of Houston is currently hiring a Refrigeration Technician III at 772 McCarty Street, Houston, TX 77029. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include processing and completing work orders, installing/removing Thermo King refrigeration units, troubleshooting mechanical failures, and performing equipment maintenance such as hoses, batteries, starters, and alternators. Additionally, the technician will perform preventive maintenance on trailers, trucks, and APU systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on trailers, trucks, and APU systems.
- Diagnose and perform basic refrigeration tasks, including leak checks, recovery, evacuation, and charging.
- Replace components such as belts, hoses, batteries, starters, and alternators as needed.
- Utilize basic electrical skills and diagnosis tools like DVOM.
- Maintain and diagnose batteries.
- Install and remove Thermo King refrigeration units.
- Use computer/laptop to complete work orders, read service documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, and refrigeration flow diagrams.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, service bays, and toolbox.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.

Additional Requirements
- Own tools including DVOM, refrigeration gauges, hand tools, and power tools.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience with TK certification or in the process of obtaining it.
- Mechanical background or trade school education preferred.
- Basic computer skills and refrigeration knowledge, including 12VDC and Ohm's Law fundamentals.
Physical Demands
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally lift 65 lbs. from floor to shoulder.
- Perform bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, and reaching.
- Work in confined spaces and in various environmental conditions.
- Perform repetitive tasks such as hammering and using wrenches.
- Normal vision required; may be exposed to cold, heat, noise, fumes, or odors.
- Occasional overtime and work at heights of at least four feet.
- Operate overhead cranes, mobile equipment, and vehicles as needed.
