Job summary

Tyson Foods is hiring for a refrigeration maintenance role at our United States facility. The position involves documenting readings for ammonia systems, performing daily inspections, and maintaining safety standards in a dynamic plant environment.

You will work 12-hour shifts, both inside and outside, with exposure to weather and noisy conditions. Candidates need at least 1 year of refrigeration maintenance experience, the ability to wear APR PPE, lift up to 50 lbs, and communicate effectively.

• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment including Air Purifying Respirators which requires medical clearance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shift on feet on hard surfaces all day.

• Refrigeration maintenance is responsible for documenting readings for all ammonia systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, recirculators, and any piping and related equipment.
• Follow instructions both written and oral.
• Perform forklift preventative maintenance/repair and other duties as assigned.
• Perform daily inspections and mandatory checks multiple times per day.
• Visually inspect all assigned equipment on roof and in plant; report ammonia issues to supervisor.
• Develop knowledge of facility layout, tools, parts and equipment.
• Maintain and monitor ammonia refrigeration equipment within safety standards for the facility.
• Good math, reading and writing skills to monitor equipment and record data.
• Must be a member of the HAZMAT Team.
• Work inside and outside of facility as directed.

Starting pay rate: $24.30/hour Pay will be based on qualifications and experience level.

Responsibilities

• Refrigeration maintenance is responsible for documenting the readings for all the ammonia systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, re-circulators, and any piping and associated equipment.
• Must be able to follow instructions both written and orally.
• In addition to the ammonia systems, this person is responsible for Forklift preventative. Maintenance/repair and any other duties as assigned.
• Perform daily inspections on the equipment and perform mandatory checks multiple times a day.
• Visually inspect all their assigned equipment on the roof and within the plant regularly and reporting any ammonia issues to the supervisor.
• Develop a thorough knowledge of facility layout, tools, parts and equipment.
• Maintain and monitor the ammonia refrigeration equipment within safety standards for the entire facility.
• Good math, reading and writing skills to properly monitor equipment, check and record data.
• Must be a member of the HAZMAT Team.
• This position will be working inside and outside of facility as directed.
• There will be exposure to weather elements outside, wet floors, humid, noisy, and cramped working quarters at times.

Requirements

• 1 year refrigeration maintenance experience.
• Must be able to wear required personnel protection equipment to include Air Purifying Respirators which requires a medical physical and clearance to wear APR.
• Must be able to work in hot outside temperatures of 118 degrees to cold temperatures of -10 degrees inside the freezer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work 12-hour shift of being on your feet and working on hard surfaces like concrete all day.

Rehiring Criteria

Applicants must also have completed at least 365 days since their last employment with Tyson and has not worked more than two times. All applicants must provide their government identification number so the system can verify any previous Tyson employment history.
