Job summary

Tyson Foods in Sanford, NC is seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to provide mechanical support for the ammonia refrigeration system and HVAC. The role involves troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and installation of equipment on a rotating schedule.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of refrigeration experience in manufacturing, be able to work across production and non-production areas, and be prepared to obtain required certifications while ensuring

• 3 years of Refrigeration experience; Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to obtain HAZMAT and respirator certifications.
• Familiarity with ammonia refrigeration systems and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain refrigeration systems safely and in compliance with Tyson policies.
• Provide mechanical support including troubleshooting (electrical), repairs, modification of equipment, preventive maintenance, and installation of equipment in the ammonia refrigeration and HVAC area.
• Perform repairs on equipment in both production and non-production areas.
• Refrigeration mechanics troubleshoot and repair breakdowns, complete work orders, and document them in SAP.
• Weld and fabricate as needed; monitor the ammonia system and repair air compressors and related systems.
• Be lock out/tag out certified, confined space certified, fall protection certified, and forklift certified.
• Must be part of the HAZMAT team and pass Respirator Level 4 annually.
• Must complete Level 1 Operator training and the maintenance training program to L4.

This position works either 6:00am – 6:00pm or 6:00pm – 6:00am on a rotating schedule. Current Pay Level Range: $25.70 - $36.70 per hour

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing mechanical support to the facility. This support includes but is not limited to mechanical troubleshooting (to include electrical), mechanical repairs, modification of equipment, preventive maintenance, and installation of equipment in the area of the ammonia refrigeration system and HVAC.

Responsibilities and Knowledge:

• This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson's policies and procedures.
• This position is responsible for providing mechanical support to the facility.
• This support includes but is not limited to mechanical troubleshooting (including electrical), mechanical repairs, modification of equipment, preventive maintenance, and installation of equipment in the area of the ammonia refrigeration system and HVAC.
• This position performs repairs on various equipment within the facility, both production and non-production-related.
• Refrigeration mechanics troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns, complete assigned work orders, and document them in the SAP maintenance system.
• This position will weld and fabricate as needed, monitor the ammonia system to ensure proper functioning and repair air compressors, water systems, A/C heat units, etc.
• Be able to be lock out/tag out certified, confined space certified, fall protection certified, and forklift certified.
• Must be part of the HAZMAT team and be able to pass the Respirator Level 4 physical annually.
• Must be able to complete Level 1 Operator training.
• Must complete the maintenance training program to L4 within the designated time frame.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is frequently required to lift and move up to 75 pounds (with assistance), climb tall ladders, bend, and crouch, and perform tasks while working from elevated platforms.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly exposed to wet and humid conditions and extreme cold/hot conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment typically requires hearing protection.

Requirements:

• 3 years of Refrigeration experience; Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
