The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS is seeking a day shift, full-time Referral Specialist to handle referrals and precertifications with insurance companies.

The role focuses on facilitating accurate scheduling of appointments with community referral sources and communicating information promptly. Candidates should have one year of medical office or hospital experience and be proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Qualifications

• One year prior medical office or hospital experience.
• Data entry experience desirable.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs i.e. WORD, Excel, Outlook.
• Broad knowledge of general office equipment, including 10 key.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for handling all referrals and precertifications with insurance companies to facilitate accurate scheduling of appointments with referral sources in the community.
• Alphabetize, pay attention to details, interact effectively with different types of people and handle stressful situations.
• Mails, phones and faxes information as needed to verify that all necessary information is available to referral sources the day of the patient’s appointment.
