Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka, KS is seeking a day shift, full-time Referral Specialist.

You will manage referrals and precertifications, coordinate scheduling with community referral sources, and ensure timely communication by mail, phone, and fax. Candidates should have at least one year in a medical office or hospital setting, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and basic data entry skills.

Qualifications

• One year prior medical office or hospital experience.
• Data entry experience desirable.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs i.e. WORD, Excel, Outlook
• Broad knowledge of general office equipment, including 10 key.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for handling all referrals and precertifications with insurance companies in order to facilitate accurate scheduling of appointments with referrals sources in the community.
• Ability to alphabetize,attention to details, interact effectively with different types of people able to handle stressful situations.
• Mails, phones and faxes information as needed in a timely manner to verify that all necessary information is available to referral sources the day of the patient's appointment.
