Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 1–2 years related experience are required.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant or LPN program is preferred.
• Current Medical Assistant Registry or Certification, or LPN license preferred (state of Michigan).
• Requirements For Financial Clearance – high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years related experience and/or training.
• Requirements For ProHealth – Medical Assistant Registry or Certification, or LPN license in Michigan within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the referral process among patient, physician, specialty office, primary care office, and insurance company.
• Demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and excellent customer service; positive communication.
• Process referrals by CPT, ICD-9 coding and obtain accurate billing/demographic information.
• Obtain prior authorizations for requested services under payer guidelines.
• Manage referral/order work queues and coordinate scheduling for Digestive Health procedures.
• Participate in case management meetings and support in-person check-in/check-out as needed.
